Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash At Lyrup

A woman has died following a crash at Lyrup this morning.

Just before 7.40 am this morning Tuesday 21 April, police were called to the ferry at Lyrup on Wilson Parade after reports of a vehicle collision.

The Dodge ute collided with a gate while attempting to board the ferry.

The driver, a 68-year-old Riverland man, and his passenger, a 69-year-old Riverland woman, were both transported to hospital by ambulance.

Sadly, the passenger died in hospital a short time later.

The Lyrup ferry remains closed, and road users are asked to seek an alternate route.

Major Crash are attending the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The woman's death is the 37th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year.
