A driver has died following a fatal crash at Red Hill.
Just after 9.30am on Sunday 27 December, patrols and paramedics were called to the Augusta Highway about three kilometres south of Red Hill, after a road train and a Mitsubishi SUV crashed. Sadly, the driver of the SUV, a 30-year-old woman from Seaton, died at the scene.
A short time before the crash, patrols and CFS crews were called to the same location on the Augusta Highway, after reports of a scrub fire in a paddock. CFS were able to quickly extinguish the blaze which burnt a small area of scrub with no damage to property.
The woman's death is the 95th life lost on our State's roads this year as compared to 113 for the same time last year.
The Augusta Highway remains closed with northbound traffic being diverted at Ingham Gap Road and southbound diverting at Clements Road.
Major Crash Investigators remain at the scene and investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing.
Investigations into the cause of fire are ongoing however, it is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
The truck driver, a 67-year-old man from Davoren Park, was not injured but was taken to hospital to be medically assessed.
