Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash, Crabtree

Sadly, a 17-year-old male has died following a single vehicle crash at Crabtree this evening.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene about 8.48pm Friday, 20 February.

Initial inquiries indicate the male was a passenger in a silver Mazda sedan travelling west on Crabtree Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and it has collided with a power pole.

Initial investigations indicate there was five occupants in the vehicle. Police believe speed was a contributing factor. Another passenger is in a critical condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The remaining occupants were taken for examination as well.

Our thoughts are with the young man's family and loved ones. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
