Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash, El Arish

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal crash at El Arish in far north Queensland this afternoon.

Initial investigations indicate that around 1.20pm, an Isuzu utility collided with the rear of a Yamaha motorbike that was slowing down on approach to roadworks on the Bruce Highway near the intersection with Jones Road.

The motorbike was then pushed into the rear of another utility in front.

The pillion passenger was critically injured and was declared deceased at the scene.

The rider sustained critical injuries and has been airlifted to Townsville University Hospital.

The drivers of the utilities were not physically injured.
