Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Maindample on Monday evening.
Emergency services were called to the vicinity of Maroondah Highway and Midland Link Highway about 9.10pm after reports a car had left the road and crashed into an embankment.
Crews tried to treat the yet to be formally identified driver of the car but he died at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
