Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Murulla

A boy has died after a two-vehicle crash in the Hunter region.

About 7:45am yesterday (Wednesday 25 June 2025), emergency services were called to the New England Highway, Murulla, about 25km north of Scone, following reports a Holden Barina and a Nissan Elgrand had collided.

The driver of the Barina – an 85-year-old man – sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.

An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with critical injuries, however he later died.

The occupants of the ElGrand – two women aged 38 and 60, a 13-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man – were treated at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
