Two people have died following a crash in the state's north overnight.
About 1.15am (Friday 23 January 2025), emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, south of Narrabri, after reports a car and truck had collided before catching alight.
Officers from Oxley Police District attended along with NSW ambulance paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW.
Both vehicles were destroyed and the drivers of the car and truck, both died at the scene. They are yet to be formally identified.
The blaze reportedly spread to nearby forest and has since been extinguished.
A crime scene has been established with all lanes of the Newell Highway closed. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
