Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash Near Albury 29 January

A driver has died after a crash in the state's south

About 7.50am today (Thursday 29 January 2026), emergency services responded to reports that a car had crashed into a tree catching fire along Spring Drive, Mulwala, approximately 100km west of Albury.

The driver – and sole occupant – died prior to the arrival of emergency services.

Crews from the Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire.

Officers from Murray River Police District have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

The identify of the driver is unknown at this stage.

Spring Road is currently closed and is expected to remain a crime scene for a considerable amount of time.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.
