Police are responding to fatal crash near Wagga Wagga

A man has died following a crash in the Riverina region earlier today.

Just before 5am (Tuesday 16 February 2021), emergency services were called to Coolamon Road, Downside, about 15km north of Wagga Wagga, following reports a Ford Focus and a Mazda Bravo collided.

The Ford driver and sole occupant, a man believed to be aged in his 40s, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The Mazda driver, a 61-year-old man, and his passenger, a 26-year-old man, were treated at the scene before being taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Officers from Riverina Police District established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
