Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - New England

A man has died in a single-vehicle crash in the state's North West Slopes region.

About 11.25pm yesterday (Thursday 21 May 2026), emergency services were called to the Elcombe Road, Bangheet, approximately 60kms south west of Warialda, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and found a vehicle had left the road and rolled.

The driver - a man believed to be aged in his 70s - died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
