Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene of a fatal crash on the Stuart Highway south of Noonamah.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash which occurred around 9.00pm, with one person declared deceased at the scene.
Two other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Both lanes of the Stuart Highway have been closed between Cox Peninsula Road and Townend Road with traffic diversions in place. These are expected to remain in place through the night.
