Police are at the scene of a serious crash in Merghiny.
Just after 2.10pm today (Tuesday 10 February), police and emergency services were called to the Eyre Highway after reports of a collision involving a police escort vehicle and a truck.
The male police officer driving the Kia station wagon was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The vehicle was providing support for the transportation of mining equipment.
Road closures are in place and police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Please avoid the area if possible.
