Police are responding to serious crash at Smithfield, South Australia

A woman is in hospital following a crash at Smithfield overnight.

Just after 10pm, Friday 21 January, patrols and emergency crews were called to Charlotte Street, after a pedestrian was hit by a Holden sedan.

The pedestrian, a 19-year-old woman from Smithfield, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Holden, a 34-year-old man from Smithfield Plains, was not injured.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing.
