Police are responding to serious crash at Port Augusta, South Australia

Police are investigating a serious crash involving a pedestrian at Port Augusta.

About 6.30pm on Sunday 30 May, police and paramedics were called to the Augusta Highway at Stirling North after a person was found lying by the side of the road.

It is early on in the investigation however police believe that the person was struck by a vehicle travelling along the Augusta Highway.

The Augusta Highway has been closed for southbound traffic at Footner Road. Heavy vehicles will be required to park.

Major Crash Investigators are making their way to the scene from Adelaide.
