Police are responding to serious crash, Gargett

Police are investigating a serious, single-vehicle traffic crash, east of Gargett on Monday, February 7.

A sedan was travelling on Mackay-Eungella Road between 3am and 3pm, approximately 4km east of Gargett Township, when for unknown reasons it left the roadway and hit several trees. It then came to rest in a gully.

The 37-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was airlifted to Mackay Hospital for treatment to serious injuries where he remains in a serious condition.

Officers are requesting anyone who was travelling in an easterly direction from Gargett towards Mackay between approximately 5am and midday on February 7, to check dash cam footage as they are travelling over the hill between Gargett and Benholme.

Forensic Crash Unit investigations are ongoing.
