Police are responding to serious crash, Merrimac

Police investigating a serious crash at Merrimac this evening are appealing for public assistance.

At 6pm, a white Subaru Impreza travelling southbound on the Pacific Highway collided with the rear of a silver Rav 4.

The impact from the collision caused the Rav to roll several times before coming to rest.

The male driver from the Impreza, which was later confirmed stolen, left the scene.

The 55year-old female driver from the Rav was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to a serious hand injury.

Officers are asking anyone who may witnessed the crash or the time leading up to it, or who may have dash cam footage of the area at the time to please contact them.

Investigations are continuing.
