Police arrest five after affray, officer assaulted - Haymarket

Five people have been arrested after an officer was allegedly assaulted responding to an affray in Sydney's CBD this morning.

Just after 2am (Sunday 2 June 2019), police were called to a licensed premises on Pitt Street, Haymarket, following reports of a fight involving up to six people.

During the altercation, two patrons were allegedly assaulted.

A man sustained facial bruising and a woman sustained a finger injury. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require further treatment.

Four men were detained by security until the arrival of officers from Sydney City Police Area Command.

On arrival, police spoke to the men and a woman, who was known to the men.

It's alleged the woman punched a male constable and one of the men allegedly jumped on the officer.

The men – aged 24, 26, 27 and 28 – and woman – aged 26 – were all arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station where they are assisting with inquiries.
