Police arrest five after man stabbed during brawl at Bankstown

An investigation is underway following a stabbing in Sydney's south west overnight.

Just after 1am (Saturday 30 January 2021), emergency services were called to a licenced premises on Chapel Road, Bankstown, after reports of a stabbing.

Police have been told two large groups of people were involved in a brawl inside the venue, before some involved fled the scene.

A short time later, a man that sustained a stab wound presented at Bankstown Hospital in a serious but stable condition and was taken into surgery.

Two male employees sustained minor lacerations while attempting to disperse the brawl.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command arrested four men and a woman at the scene. They were taken to Bankstown Police Station to assist with inquiries.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police.
