Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested five men in Highett yesterday afternoon.
Investigators attended an address on Turner Road about 2.45pm as part of an ongoing investigation into a number of alleged armed robberies and home invasions in the area including:
- An armed robbery in Brighton on 25 December
- An affray in Mordialloc on 29 December.
- A home invasion in Bentleigh on 30 December.
Detectives also seized a number of items from the address, including a 2012 Toyota Aurion, machetes, counterfeit money and quantities of drugs of dependence.
A 2010 VW Golf was also seized, with detectives locating allegedly stolen gas cannisters in the vehicle.
With the assistance of detectives from the Southern Metro Region Crime Squad, a second search warrant was executed at Patterson Road in Bentleigh.
Investigators located and seized more gas cannisters, along with multiple clothing items.
Five men have since been interviewed in relation to the incidents.
Detectives from the Southern Metro Region Crime Squad interviewed and charged an 18-year-old Dandenong man with affray.
He was remanded to appear before Moorabbin Magistrates' Court on 31 December.
Detectives from Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit interviewed and charged an 18-year-old man from Bentleigh with armed robbery and unlawful assault.
He will appear at an out of court session tonight, where detectives will seek his remand.
An 18-year-old male from Bentleigh was charged with possess drugs of dependence and possess prohibited weapon.
He was bailed to appear before Moorabbin Magistrates' Court on 16 March 2026.
An 18-year-old Highett man was released pending further enquiries.
Detectives from the Eastern Region Crime Squad interviewed an 18-year-old man from Wallan, who was released pending further enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
