Police arrest four youths following armed robbery spree

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested four youths following three alleged armed robberies and a pursuit which occurred shortly after midnight on Sunday, Victoria Police say.

The first armed robbery took place at a convenience store on Synnot Street in Werribee just after midnight when four armed offenders allegedly entered the store and threatened the attendant before stealing cash and cigarettes.

The offenders drove from the scene in a stolen car before committing their second armed robbery at a service station on Little Boundary Road in Laverton where they allegedly smashed the front door with a hammer and stole the till just before 1am.

Ten minutes later the third armed robbery took place at a service station on Ballarat Road in Albion.

On this occasion the offenders allegedly smashed the front door of the premises before threatening the attendant and stealing cash and cigarettes.

A short pursuit commenced after the third incident which resulted in police arresting four teenagers aged between 15-17 years from Craigieburn and Roxburgh Park.

Three of the youths have been charged with three counts of armed robbery and two counts of theft of motor car and were remanded to appear at a children’s court.

A fourth youth was charged with three counts of armed robbery, two counts of theft of motor car and engaging in a pursuit with police.
