Police Arrest Man After Albert Park Ramming

Police arrested a man after an alleged police car ramming in Albert Park this morning.

Officers located a man who was asleep at the wheel of an allegedly stolen car parked on Mills Street just before 5am.

The male driver woke up when police blocked his vehicle and allegedly attempted to ram a police car out of the way.

Police used OC spray as they attempted to arrest the driver, but he allegedly continued ramming the car.

The man was then tasered and removed from the vehicle where he was arrested.

AV attended and assessed the man at the scene.

The 44-year-old Armadale man was taken into custody to be interviewed.

Officers searched the vehicle and located allegedly stolen tools and drugs.

The car was allegedly stolen from Spensley Street in Clifton Hill between 3 and 6 December. The registration plates were allegedly stolen from Rooney Street in Richmond on 9 December.

No police officers were physically injured and there was minor damage to one police vehicle.
