Police arrest man after Ambulance paramedic assaulted – Surry Hills

A man will appear in court today after being charged with assaulting an Ambulance paramedic at Surry Hills overnight.

About 7.30pm on Tuesday 21 May 2019, officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command responded to reports of an intoxicated man near the intersection of Campbell Street and Bourke Street.

The officers located a 37-year-old man and sought the assistance of Ambulance paramedics to treat the man.

The man then walked towards one of the Ambulance paramedics and used a closed fist to strike the 25-year-old woman on her left forearm.

The Paramedic was not injured.

The man was arrested and conveyed to Surry Hills Police Station where he was later charged with assault.

He has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Wednesday 22 May 2019).
