Police Arrest Man After Assault, Pursuit At Orange

A man has been arrested following an alleged assault and subsequent pursuit in the state's Central West.

About 7.50am today (Thursday 2 October 2025), police were called to Franklin Road, Orange, after reports a 71-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and approached a 37-year-old man who was in the vicinity.

The man allegedly left the scene in a black Toyota Yaris.

Officers from the Central West Police District and Traffic North West Command pursued the Yaris through streets in Orange.

At a point during the pursuit the man got out of the Yaris and tried to force his way into another vehicle before returning to the Yaris.

The Yaris was driven towards Orange CBD, where it crashed and flipped onto its roof at the intersection of Lords Place and Summer Street.

Officers attached to Central West Police District – with assistance from Western Operations Support Group - arrested the driver after a Taser was deployed.

He was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head injuries before being taken to Orange Hospital under police guard.

Multiple crime scenes have been established, and police have commenced an investigation.

The 71-year-old woman was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital.
