Police arrest man after Benalla hit-run

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an alleged hit-run collision in Benalla on 4 August that left a teenager in a critical condition.

Police were told a teenager was walking across Bridge Street, when he was allegedly struck by a 4WD ute, about 9.20pm.

The 16-year-old Benalla boy was airlifted to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver allegedly didn't stop at the scene and fled in the damaged vehicle.

A 23-year-old Benalla man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
