Police arrest man after Bendigo North aggravated burglary

Police have located a man hiding on a shed roof following an aggravated burglary in Bendigo North early this morning.

It's alleged the 24-year-old Maiden Gully man entered an Arnold Street address, stealing a handbag and car keys shortly before 2.30am.

The two residents woke to the sound of someone in their house and got out of bed to investigate.

Finding a man in his kitchen, the 49-year-old male resident chased the offender from the address while armed with a baseball bat.

The alleged thief has managed to hide on a nearby shed roof, where he was located by police who quickly responded to the scene.

He was arrested and remains in custody, assisting investigators with their enquiries.
