Police arrest man after Cranbourne North hit-run collision

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have arrested a man following a fatal alleged hit-run collision in Cranbourne North this morning.

Investigators have been told a motorcyclist and vehicle collided on Thompsons Road near the intersection of Lansell Drive about 1.40am.

It will be alleged the driver of the silver-coloured Holden Commodore briefly stopped before it continued driving west on Thompsons Road without assisting the rider.

Witnesses stopped and rendered assistance to the rider, but sadly the 26-year-old man from Cranbourne West died at the scene.

The Holden was located unoccupied in Lyall Street, Hastings, about 9.20am.

A 30-year-old Toora man was arrested at Frankston Train Station about 4pm after police received information from the public.

He is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries.
