Police have arrested a man after a crossbow was fired at officers in Eltham this afternoon.
Members attended an address in Reynolds Road about 1.40pm after reports a man armed with a crossbow was behaving erratically in a residential property.
Police attempted to contact the man but were unsuccessful.
Officers cordoned off the property and it is alleged the man exited the property from the back door and fired the crossbow at two members.
Members drew their firearms and shots were fired at the man who retreated inside the property.
The man was not physically injured during the exchange but he surrendered to police a short time later.
A 26-year-old man from Eltham is currently in custody and being interviewed by police.
Professional Standards Command have been notified as per normal practice and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
