Police arrest man after Maddingley death

A man has been arrested this afternoon as part of the Homicide Squad investigation into the death of a man in Maddingley on Wednesday night.

A 31-year-old Pentland Hills man presented himself to police about 3pm today and will now be interviewed by detectives.

It follows an incident on Woolpack Road around 7.15pm on 20 May where a motorcyclist was struck by a ute.

The male rider, a 24-year-old Werribee man, died at the scene.

The male driver of the ute, a 36-year-old Dandenong man, stopped a short time later.

He and one of his passengers, a 28-year-old Pentland Hills man, stayed at the scene while the 31-year-old Pentland Hills man left on foot.

Police believe the parties involved are known to each other.

Detectives from both the Homicide Squad and Major Collision Investigation Unit subsequently attended the scene.
