Police arrest man after police officer hit by car, South Australia

A police officer was struck by a car at Davoren Park this morning.

Police had attended a Heytesbury Avenue address as part of an investigation. About 10.20am on Thursday 2 September, a Ford Festiva took off from the address, hitting the officer in the driveway.

The female officer sustained leg injuries and was taken to the Calvary Hospital by ambulance.

Police searched the area for the Ford Festiva, locating it abandoned in Barbaro Court, Munno Para West a short time later.

The suspect is believed to have driven off in a red Mitsubishi sedan, which was tracked to Ryan Road and Supple Road, Waterloo Corner.

Police Dog Cooper and STAR Group officers attended and arrested the suspect on foot nearby without incident or further injury.

The 28-year-old Davoren Park man is in police custody and will face serious charges.

Both vehicles have been seized by police for forensic examination.
