Police arrest man after pursuit and crash - Long Jetty

A man has been arrested following a pursuit and two-vehicle crash on the state's Central Coast.

About 10.50am (Friday 4 February 2022), officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were patrolling the Long Jetty area, when they observed an alleged disqualified driver travelling north on Tuggerah Parade.

Police activated lights and warning sirens; when the vehicle – a Nissan X-Trail – failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The Nissan continued onto Watkins Street before approaching the intersection of Pacific Street, where the vehicle collided with a Toyota Corolla travelling east on Pacific Street.

The driver of the Corolla – a 24-year-old female – was trapped by confinement for a short period, before she was freed and taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the X-Trail – a 30-year-old man – was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station, where charges are expected to be laid.
