About 8:30pm yesterday (Friday 10 April 2026), police were told a Holden Cruze sedan had allegedly struck a group of motorbike riders who were stationary at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Johnson Road, Bass Hill.
The driver, a 49-year-old man, left the scene but was allegedly assaulted at a nearby service station by several motorbike riders.
The driver left the scene and continued driving to a nearby shopping centre car park where his vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant. The man then left the scene prior to police arrival.
Following inquiries, about 9am today (Saturday 11 April 2026), a 49-year-old man was arrested at an address in Bass Hill.
He was taken to Bankstown Hospital under police guard for treatment of facial injuries and a possible fractured arm.
Investigations are ongoing.
