A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Sydney's west.
About 10:30am today (Thursday 11 September 2025), emergency services were called to Lawrence Hargrave Road, Warwick Farm, following reports of an assault.
Officers from Liverpool Police Area Command attended the scene and were told an elderly man had been assaulted with a hammer by another man.
Officers found a 65-year-old man with head injuries outside a unit complex.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Following inquiries, officers attended a unit complex on Lawrence Hargraves Road to speak to a 53-year-old man.
When the man refused to answer the door, a perimeter was established and extra resources from the Public Order and Riot Squad and Police Negotiators were called.
About 1.20pm the same day, police arrested the 53-year-old man without incident.
He was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he remains as inquiries into the incident continue.
