Police arrest man after shots fired into car at Chester Hill

Police have arrested a man as they continue to investigate a shooting at Chester Hill over the weekend.

Just before 9.30pm yesterday (Sunday 9 August 2020), police were called to Alpha Street, Chester Hill, following reports shots had been fired.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

A short time later, a 38-year-old man attended Granville Police Station. Police were told shots were fired into his car following an altercation on Alpha Street. He was uninjured.

Following further investigations, officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended a home at Chester Hill, about 5pm today (Monday 10 August 2020).

A 20-year-old man was arrested with the assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit (TOU).

He was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing and further arrests are expected.
