Police arrest man after South Melbourne stabbing investigation

Southern Metro Crime Team detectives have charged a man following a stabbing and carjacking in South Melbourne earlier this month.

The alleged assault and carjacking occurred on Smith Street about 6am on Monday 5 October.

A man was arrested at a hotel in Parkdale after an extensive investigation.

The 22-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with ten offences including aggravated carjacking with an offensive weapon, intentionally cause serious injury in circumstances of gross violence, possessing a controlled weapon, criminal damage by fire, resist arrest and traffic matters.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 29 October.
