Police arrest man after stabbing - Darlinghurst

A man has been arrested following a stabbing in Darlinghurst today.

About 12.40pm (Saturday 10 June 2023), emergency services were called to a bus that had stopped on Flinders Street, near South Dowling Street, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Police have been told a 35-year-old male passenger was stabbed by another man – not known to him – before he fled the scene on foot.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers from Surry Hills Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced a search of the surrounding area, with assistance from neighbouring police.

Following inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested, and a knife was seized by police in Belmore Park at Haymarket about 1.15pm today.

He has been taken to Surry Hills Police Station to assist with inquiries.
