Police arrest man after stabbing in Shepparton

Police have arrested a man following a stabbing in Shepparton today.

Officers were called to Parker Street following reports a woman was located with stab wounds just before 2pm.

A 25-year-old Shepparton woman was taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries.

It's alleged a man fled the scene in a white Kia station wagon with a 4-month-old boy known to the man immediately after the incident.

He was arrested a short time later near McLennan Street, Mooroopna where the infant was located uninjured.

Police believe the man and woman are known to each other.

A 30-year-old Mooroopna man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
