Police arrest man after stealing family car, South Australia

A man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a home and stole the family car early this morning.

Just after 12.45am on Wednesday 6 November, police were called to a home in Gepps Cross after the owner heard his vehicle start in his driveway and he saw it being driven away.

The victim quickly alerted police to the theft and only minutes later spotted the stolen white Mitsubishi Ford Territory on Bridge Road at Para Hills.

The stolen car travelled through side streets before turning onto Kesters Road to travel North West. The vehicle came to a stop at the extension of Kesters Road and Northern District patrols swooped on the driver.

The 42-year-old Kilburn man was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft, dangerous driving to escape police pursuit and driving without a licence. He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
