Police arrest man after Sunbury ramming

Detectives from Hume Crime Investigation Unit have arrested a 19-year-old Sunbury man after the alleged ramming of a police car which left a Senior Constable with serious injuries.

Officers were patrolling Reservoir Road, Sunbury about 11.40pm last night when they noticed a gold coloured Commodore sedan parked just off the road and in an unlit area.

The officers stopped in front of the car and attempted to get out and speak to the occupants.

As the officers exited their vehicle it is alleged the Commodore accelerated and hit the police driver's door, pinning and injuring the male Senior Constable.

The officer was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 19-year-old man presented to police this afternoon and is currently assisting detectives with their enquires.

The investigation remains on-going.
