Police Arrest Man After Two Stabbings In Frankston

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following two stabbings in the past 24 hours in the Frankston area.

The first incident occurred on 16 August about 1.15pm, where it is alleged the victim was struck from behind with a sharp implement as she walked on Young Street.

The 53-year-old Skye woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The offender fled the scene.

The second incident occurred on 17 August on Playne Street about 7.45am.

It's alleged the victim was approached from behind by the offender who allegedly stabbed her before demanding her bag and phone.

The offender allegedly fled the scene with the victim's belongings but was arrested a short time later by police on Ross Smith Avenue East.

The 29-year-old Western Australian victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 27-year-old man of no fixed place is currently in police custody for both incidents and will be interviewed by investigators.
