Police Arrest Man After Woman Critical After Assault - Strathfield

Police have arrested a man after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Strathfield yesterday.

About 12.10pm (Thursday 9 October 2025), emergency services were called to a park on Francis Street, Strathfield, following reports of an assault.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and were told a man allegedly seriously assaulted a 71-year-old woman, before leaving the scene.

She was found with significant injuries and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The man and woman are not known to each other.

Following inquiries, Auburn Detectives arrested a 52-year-old man at a home in Strathfield at 8.30am today (Friday 10 October 2025). He was taken to Auburn Police Station, where he is currently assisting police.
