Police have arrested a man following an alleged arson in Yarraville earlier this week.
Two male offenders attended an address on Forgarty Avenue where a Molotov cocktail was allegedly thrown through the window about 11pm on Monday, 22 December.
Two people were inside the home at the time and were not physically injured.
The two male offenders fled the scene.
One of the men allegedly returned to the property about 5.50pm on Tuesday, 23 December, where he was involved in an altercation with three other males.
The 21-year-old man from Bexley, NSW, sustained slash wounds during the incident and left the scene on foot.
A member of the public located him with injuries a short time later and contacted emergency services.
He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The 21-year-old was arrested in relation to the alleged fire and remains in hospital under police guard.
Police believe the parties are known to each other and other offenders are outstanding at this stage.
Investigations remain ongoing into the circumstances of the incidents.
