Police arrest man during armed robbery in Haymarket

A man has been arrested during an alleged armed robbery in Haymarket this morning, NSW Police say.

About 12.20am tomorrow, police were alerted to a man, in possession of a knife, being seen in the Haymarket area

He was seen to enter a convenience store on Castlereagh Street.

Officers from Sydney City entered the premises and will allege they saw the man behind the counter holding a knife toward the shop attendant who was gathering money from the till.

Officers moved in and arrested the 21-year-old man.

He was taken to Sydney City Police Station where he is currently being questioned.

No one was injured during the incident and detectives are calling for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have information that can assist, to contact them at Day Street Police Station on (02) 9265 649.
