Police are on the scene of a two car collision on Princes Freeway at Little River which occurred at 5.50am, Victoria Police say.
Police received reports of a driver travelling at a fast rate of speed, in a silver Holden Astra hatchback, before colliding into the rear of another Melbourne bound vehicle, causing that vehicle to spin around and collide with the wire safety barrier.
The female driver has received injuries and is currently being treated on the scene.
The alleged offending driver got out of his vehicle and ran across traffic attempting to flee the scene.
Attending police chased driver on foot for approximately three kilometres before apprehending him.
Anyone who saw the silver Holden Astra prior to the collision is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
