Police Arrest Man Over Break And Enter At Broken Hill

A man will face court today charged over an alleged break and enter at a home in the state's west earlier this week.

Just after 7am Tuesday (19 August 2025), police were called to a home on Williams Street, Broken Hill, following reports of a break and enter.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District were told between 11.30pm on Monday 18 August and 7am on Tuesday 19 August 2025, an unknown person allegedly forced entry into a home before stealing a number of personal items along with cash before leaving the scene.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 1.15pm yesterday (Wednesday 20 August 2025), police arrested a 36-year-old man on Chloride Street, Broken Hill.

Police searched the man allegedly locating and seizing a small amount of drugs – believe to be methylamphetamine.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there, possess prohibited drug, and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 4 today (Thursday 21 August 2025).
