Police arrest pair in stolen car at Ferryden Park, South Australia

Police have arrested a man and a woman at Ferryden Park after they were found in a stolen car early this morning.

Just before 2am on Wednesday 13 February, police received information about a stolen white Hyundai hatchback being sighted in Warren Street, Ferryden Park.

The Hyundai had been stolen only a few hours earlier from a Woodville Gardens home.

Police spotted the stolen car in Byron Street at Mansfield Park however it was not pursued and was kept under observation until the police helicopter PolAir could monitor it from the air.

PolAir kept track of the car from David Terrace, Kilkenny until it stopped at a unit complex on Stuart Street, Ferryden Park.

As patrols quickly surrounded the car, the Hyundai reversed and collided with the front of a police car causing minor damage.

The driver, an 18-year-old Mansfield Park man, was arrested at the scene as was his passenger, a 28-year-old Mansfield Park woman.

Police were shocked to find a three year old child was also in the vehicle at the time.

The man has been charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, drive dangerously to escape police pursuit, acts to endanger life and breach of bail. He was refused police bail and will appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

The woman has been charged with illegal use and was bailed to Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 8 April.
