Police arrest seven after stolen car located in Box Hill South

Detectives from Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit have charged six teenagers after arresting seven people in relation to a Mercedes which was stolen from Beaumaris overnight.

Officers received a report of a group of people acting suspiciously near an allegedly stolen vehicle on Little Street about 9am Tuesday morning.

Police attended the area but the group fled on foot on police arrival.

Local members, along with specialist units, coordinated a protracted search of the area and arrested seven people.

A 16-year-old female from Richmond, a 16-year-old female from Fraser Rise, a 16-year-old male from Richmond, a 17-year-old male from Dandenong have been charged with theft of motor vehicle and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

They have been bailed to appear in a Children's Court at a later date.

A 17-year-old female from Werribee has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and has been bailed to appear in a Children's Court at a later date.

A 15-year-old Balwyn North boy has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and will appear at a Children's Court at a later date.

One other male was released pending further enquiries.
