Police arrest teen after $15K jewellery theft

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a teenager following an investigating in the alleged theft of $15,000 worth of jewellery in Melbourne last year.

Investigators have been told a male entered the store on Little Collins Street about 4.30pm on 30 December.

He allegedly selected a bracelet before paying for the item using a fraudulent credit card.

A 16-year-old boy from Thomastown self-presented to Epping Police Station yesterday afternoon.

He was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons for obtain property by deception, produce false documentation and make and use false documents.

He will appear at a children's court at a later date.
