Police Arrest Teens After Stabbing In Southbank

Police have arrested five teenagers this morning after two men were assaulted and stabbed in Southbank.

Emergency services were first called to the scene following reports of a brawl on Yarra Promenade about 1.50am.

Investigators have been told the victims, a father and his adult son, were walking with other family members when the group of youths passed and bumped into one of their group.

A short verbal interaction occurred before the teens set upon the pair.

The victims, aged 23 and 47, were both physically assaulted and stabbed. They were taken to hospital with suspected non-life-threatening injuries.

The offenders who were seen running from the scene were all arrested shortly after by responding police.

The teens, ranging in age from 14 to 17, remain in custody and will be interviewed in relation to the incident.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have filmed the altercation to please come forward.
