Police arrest three over a series of public place shootings - Fairfield City PAC

Detectives have arrested three men as part of investigations into a series of public place shootings in Sydney's south west last year.

In September, detectives from Fairfield City Police Area Command established Strike Force Keane to investigate the circumstances surrounding a series of public place shootings in the local area.

The incidents included shots fired at a Bonnyrigg home on Monday 31 August 2020, the shooting of a 19-year-old man at Cabramatta and shots fired at a St Johns Park home on Tuesday 1 September 2020, and shots fired at a Fairfield Heights home on Wednesday 2 September 2020.

As part of investigations, detectives uncovered that the discharge of a firearm at a park at Canley Heights on Saturday 25 July 2020 and a verbal dispute the day before (Friday 24 July 2020), were also linked to the shootings, and the incidents were related to an ongoing conflict between two groups in the area.

Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Keane detectives, assisted by South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group, executed four search warrants at Cabramatta, Canley Vale, Fairfield and St Johns Park from 7am today (Tuesday 20 April 2021).

Three men – aged 23, 29 and 33 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Fairfield Police Station, where they will be charged.
