Police arrest two after burglary in St Kilda

Port Phillip Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two men following an alleged burglary at a licenced premises in St Kilda overnight.

Officers responded to reports two people had broken into a restaurant on Marine Parade and stole beers from the fridge about 9.40pm.

The men, along with the beers, were located by police in an allegedly stolen Ford sedan parked outside the restaurant.

Both men were subsequently arrested.

A 26-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with multiple offences including;

• Burglary

• Theft of a motor vehicle

• Theft

• Possess drug of dependence

• Possess prescription drug

• Deal with property suspected of being proceeds of crime

He has been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 12 April 2023.

A 36-year-old Melbourne man is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
